First off, IPL 2020 has been able to go on smoothly despite the global pandemic. Even though the spectators are not allowed in the stadium except for about 30%, this League has been able to carry on without any such hurdles. Moreover, selecting players for each team has been done excellently, especially this year. Since this time, IPL has been held before the T20 World Cup 2020, the players are getting a lot more real-time experience to brush up their skills.
As mentioned earlier, it did have to face a couple of problems due to the global pandemic and it also faced a major financial crisis in terms of the sponsorship title. With all that being said, the League has battled with all the problems quite well.
The best thing that has happened this year is the amazing performance of all the teams. No team has been left with inefficient players. Each team was able to test the players based on their performance and they were able to take the best players for their teams. Hence, each team has a strong set of players which makes it even more impossible to predict who can win. A few players were not able to take part in the League, however, their replacements have been giving excellent performances so far. Regardless of various drawbacks and issues faced, every team has been able to give a proper platform for the players to display their talent. Some of the players are also taking part in this League for the first time, giving them more chances.
Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, the teams who occupy the top two spots, have the most well-settled playing XIs and also have strong bench strength. While the defending champions wouldn’t voluntarily change their line-up, they have equally strong alternatives on the bench available. And with Kohli and de Villiers producing the goods, along with the promising form of Padikkal and Finch, RCB seems to have struck their ideal combination.
For some, the best thing that happened was Dhoni’s comeback since many fans had been waiting for a very long time. Overall, IPL is always a big fest for cricket lovers especially that of India, hence being able to live stream from one’s own home despite its expected cancellation, alone, is the best thing that has happened so far.
