Predictions of IPL 2020
The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) was just a few days away and the legal cricket betting companies all over the world had started releasing the odds for the tournament. According to the odds released by the leading betting companies of the world, defending champions Mumbai Indians will once again start favourite to win the IPL title this year.
After a series of problems of corona positive cases with the Chennai Super Kings squad, without any surprise CSK’s odds to win IPL 2020 have dwindled considerably in the eyes of viewers.
According to the previous year’s statistics, my prediction says that Mumbai Indians look extremely competent and good to win their Indian Premier League title no. 5 this year.
Experience is one of their biggest strengths. Secondly, the talent that they have in their squad and even the way they picked new players in the 2019 auctions is commendable. They have applied their brains in picking the new players. They have made sure that they have all bases covered which has made them a very good team for this season. This includes Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Quinton de Kock, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult/Mitchell McClenaghan, Jaspreet Bumrah. What Mumbai Indians have are plenty of big-hitters like Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya.
We can go on about the batting for days together, but at the end of the day, statistics suggest that it is also the bowlers that really make the difference on the cricket field. In particular, the pace bowlers. Mumbai’s fast-bowling trio accounted for 30 wickets. Mumbai Indian’s three main pace bowlers all find themselves in the top 5 of the list, and that just goes to show how much of an impact Jaspreet Bumrah, James Pattinson and Trent Boult have had for the Mumbai outfit. One knows they’ve done well when the absence of the great Lasith Malinga is barely noticed.
They have had Four wins in six games. An opening day defeat to the Chennai Super Kings, and a heart-breaking Super Over loss at the hands of the Royal Challengers Bangalore. And yet, they are the second-best team in the tournament with relative ease.
The experience they have of playing in the finals and the talent that they have in their current squad has made them one of the toughest teams to beat in the IPL 2020. Mumbai Indians have won the IPL 4 times which means that they already know how to come out of difficult situations. They already made it to the top of the table at this point after having a heart-breaking opening match against CSK. That is why I feel MI shouldn’t find it too difficult to win the championship again this year.
It will be very interesting to watch the teams fight for their positions and to ultimately win the title they think they deserve. Even though the world is supporting their favourites through online cricket platforms, the finals will only reveal the ultimate champions.
