BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is the national governing body for cricket in India. The board was formed in December 1928 as a society, registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act. it is their responsibility to make decisions related to cricket. The president of BCCI is Sourav Ganguly. this year it was not sure whether IPL will be held or not. The BCCI was not sure about the situation. After all the safety of the people and the players is the primary thing. so BCCI decided it's best that the IPL is also not conducted. If we see the players then the best players of cricket are from out of the country, Take for example David warner , Russel , Steve smith and I can keep on adding the players.
In this pandemic situation, the player's safety was very much important.Even if those players travel to India it's very probable that these players contract COVID - 19 either in India or on their way to India. See what happened to the Pakistan cricket team players when they tried flying to England. Over ten key players tested positive even before departing.
The rest of the team upon arrival to England have to face strict isolation for 14 days. Amidst the pandemic is this all really necessary. It is to be noted Pakistan still has cases going very high. The positive cases of COVID were on a peak in other countries like England , Germany , Spain etc conducts their respective football leagues because COVID -19 has reached a peak in their countries and has now subdued. but if we compared the cases of India then that time the cases were not very high, but it was not sure that how long the situation would be under control. Every next day new cases were registered in India from different parts. At that time the government said that we should not do anything which might lead to our failure.
Secondly, various countries like England , Germany , Spain etc conduct their respective football leagues because COVID -19 has reached a peak in their countries and has now subdued. But If you take the case of India it's not the same. Day after day we are facing new records in the number of Covid cases. The government says we have not reached the peak number of cases yet but now itself we've crossed over 5 lakh cases, God knows how much more is yet to come. That is why BCCI was not ready to conduct the IPL 2020.
After Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Suresh Raina pulled out of the IPL 2020 citing “personal reasons”, it has emerged that a second player in the team has tested positive for Covid-19. The player in question is a right-handed top-order batsman, who has been a part of India A teams in recent past and is a prolific performer in Ranji Trophy. A T20 specialist pacer had tested positive along with 12 members of the contingent in Dubai. but luckily, everything went well and all the players recovered well and BCCI allowed them to conduct the IPL 2020.
