Cricket matches not only entertain us but give us precious memories too. The most important cricketing moments of the decade are difficult to pick, but we manage to pick a few and they are mostly focused on historical producers.
February 24: In Gwalior, history was made. Sachin Tendulkar of India became the first man toscore two hundred in ODIs after 2961 ODIs. In the 50th over of the innings against South Africa,Tendulkar scored 200*. In the past, many players came close to breaking the 200 run barrier inan ODI, but none deserves the accolade as much as Sachin Tendulkar, who scored more runs inODIs, hundreds, the fifties. 2nd April: A World Cup title for India after 28 years, when they made history in Wankhede. India became the first team to win at home in the World Cup. During the tournament, World Cuphero Yuvraj Singh battled with cancer but gave his best performance and received the 'Player ofthe Tournament trophy'. By the time MS Dhoni hit the six to win the title, Tendulkar's dream ofwinning the World Cup was finally achieved.
16 November: the day India wept. The last day of the illustrative career of Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar, playing in his hometown, scored 74 in his last test innings. One of the best speechesby a cricketer who brought tears to the eyes of everyone in the stadium was the farewell address. And as if that wasn't enough to wet the eyes of his supporters, for the last time, Tendulkarwalked back to the pitch to pay his respects, making it more unforgettable. With the highestnumber of tests, ODIs, runs, hundreds, and many other records, Tendulkar retired.
25-27 November: When the entire world of cricketing comes together. Australian cricketerPhillip Hughes was struck in a domestic game by a bouncer on November 25 and was airlifted toa hospital. Fans across the globe prayed for his speedy recovery, but on November 27, Hughessuccumbed to injury. The Test match between Pakistan and New Zealand in Sharjah waspostponed for a day. Boards, cricketers, and fans began trending # PutOutYourBats on social
media as a tribute to Phillip Hughes.
November 27: Exactly one year after the death of Phillip Hughes, the first night test was playedbetween Australia and New Zealand at the Adelaide Oval. To keep things fun for the fans,Australians are known for bringing fresh ideas and improvements to the game. Together withcolour kits, they launched the idea of Day-night cricket, brought in the game snickometer,Hotspot, and DRS and now the pink ball test to attract more crowds for test matches to thestadium. India also made their pink-ball test match debut before the decade was over. A welcomeimprovement, even if they are getting over in less than 5 days, to keep the test matches
interesting.
April 3: West Indies became the first team to win the T20 World Cup twice (in 1975 & 1979)and were the first team to win the T20 World Cup twice in 2016. The most glorious moment ofthe World Cup was Braithwaite & #39;s 4 consecutive sixes in the final over to win the trophy. In thefinals, Samuels played another vital knock, as in 2012. For West Indies cricket, it was a fantasticyear as they not only won the WT20 in men & #39;s cricket but also the U-19 World Cup in women & #39;s cricket.
