Is Suresh Raina playing the IPL 2020?
Suresh Raina is an Indian former international cricketer. An aggressive left-handed middle-order batsman and an occasional off-spin bowler. He is also regarded as one of the best fielders in world cricket. Arguably among India's finest T20 batsmen, Suresh Raina stormed into the international cricket scene as a teenage prodigy at the age of nineteen.
Suresh Raina is the only Indian who has hit a century in all formats of the game. He was named the Indian ODI captain after MS Dhoni opted out of the ODI series against the West Indies. He is a dashing left-hander with the unique ability to pierce the gaps, and go in for the big shots without hesitation. He is a brave and confident risk taker.
Raina was the backbone of Chennai Super Kings' success for the seven years that he played before the team was banned. His dashing left-hand style of play gave CSK the luxury to attack at will with a lot of firepower left down the order. The fact that he is currently the second highest run-getter in the history of IPL explains the magnanimity of Raina's contribution to the yellow kings. He has been one of the greats in IPL history, referred fondly as 'Mr.IPL' due to his dominance in the tournament, where he has scored in excess of 400 runs every year, barring only two seasons
Raina, who has represented CSK in all 10 seasons of the franchise, has said he is looking forward to playing the IPL for the next four-five years.
Suresh Raina shocked the cricket fraternity when he announced his departure from IPL 2020 due to personal reasons. There had been various reports suggesting a rift between the IPL’s second highest run-getter and the CSK team management but the former India cricketer denied them, terming his decision to quit CSK camp a ‘tough’ one.
Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh’s decision to pull out of IPL 2020 due to personal reasons had left a big hole in the Chennai Super Kings squad before the tournament began on September 19 in UAE. There were speculations that the former Indian cricketer might return to the field as soon as things get better at his end. Even the team expected the dynamic top order batsman to be back with his squad. But at this position, a comeback may not be easy as Raina may need BCCI clearance to do so.
After his return from the UAE, Raina tweeted about an incident in which two of his relatives were killed and said that what happened to his family in Punjab was beyond horrible.
Revealing details of the crime that claimed the lives of his uncle and cousin, and left his aunt and cousin severely injured, Raina said that he needed to be there for his family and wouldn’t have left a chance to be on the field if it wasn’t for them.
However, Suresh Raina’s blessings and well wishes are with the team and he is supporting them in the IPL by watching and celebrating their performances in live cricket matches. We hope to see him in the next season in better form than ever.
