The central government has given a green signal to the BCCI proposal for conducting the 13th season of IPL matches in UAE, confirmed IPL chairperson Brijesh Patel on Monday.
The welcoming decision came from the government in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases across the nation.
The IPL authority has released the scheduled date of the tournament on its official website. The matches will kick start from September 19 till November 10 in three cities of UAE- Dubai, Dhabi, and Sharjah.
To move a domestic championship abroad, it takes the Indian sports association to sort permission from Sports, Home, and External ministries.
On whether the ‘shifting’-permission has received in written from the respective Ministries—Ministry of External affairs and ministry of home affairs, Patel quoted as saying “Yes, we have received all the written approvals.”
As per a BCCI official, Emirates cricket board has been informed about this development.
For the tournament in UAE, most IPL franchises will take off after 20th August, post the two significant as well as mandatory COVID-19 tests.
On the sponsorship front too, the Indian cricketing board is facing problems after cancellation of the title partnership with Chinese Phone Company, VIVO post the Indo-China border conflict.
